GREENFIELD — Just months after longtime dog grooming business Mighty Clean Mutt closed in January, Jordan LeBlanc has filled the void with Auntie Jordan’s Grooming.
The grooming salon’s pursuit at 52 French King Highway was also no coincidence, according to LeBlanc, who said Mighty Clean Mutt owner Megan Edson encouraged her to try her own business.
“She really pushed me to do it in a healthy way,” LeBlanc said. “It’s a very welcoming community.”
This encouragement prompted LeBlanc to leave the business world behind and start Auntie Jordan’s Grooming, which officially opened on April 1. While the shift from business to grooming our four-legged friends is significant, LeBlanc, who is from Orange, has worked at various pet stores in the area and began grooming her own dogs when she was 10 years old. . She also ran a home grooming business for several years.
“I really missed dogs,” she said of one of the things that brought her back to the grooming business. “I also have a 6-year-old daughter that I missed.”
She said she was a little nervous starting her business, but has settled in since opening its doors in April. LeBlanc enjoys getting to know dogs and their owners, especially loyal customers. She joked that sometimes working with dogs is as exhausting as dealing with people in retail.
“Each dog has its own personality,” she said. “It’s not easy…but it doesn’t get repetitive.”
Auntie Jordan’s Grooming offers walk-in nail trims for $15-$20, and full grooming appointments are available for $65 per hour. All grooming appointments come with a blueberry bath and facial — which LeBlanc explained “breaks down eye boogies.”
“We strive to do our best every time,” she said. “It’s one-on-one for the most part, and we don’t have three dogs in the waiting room.”
To schedule an appointment with LeBlanc and Auntie Jordan’s Grooming, call 413-325-8534 or stop by the salon at 52 French King Highway. Opening hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday. LeBlanc said those hours are guaranteed for the salon to be open, but she’s also “flexible” with appointments if needed. All breeds of dogs are welcome.
