JR Pet Services Waggin ‘Train held its grand opening event on Saturday October 26th.

JR Pet Services Waggin ‘Train started out as a home-based business providing pet grooming and boarding services before moving to their new location at 6856 Carrollton Pike. The open house was well attended where everyone was treated to a tour, hot dogs, drinks and treats for humans and dogs. Door prize winners were drawn at the end of the day and the winners were Chery Bun, Peggy Sizemore, Becky Frost, Tom King and Darlene Edwards.

JR Pet Services Waggin ‘Train, or also known as the Waggin’ Train, opened its new location in May and expanded its current services to include boarding and grooming for cats and dogs. They continue to provide in-home pet grooming and sitting services. Waggin ‘Train is starting to expand its current boarding services at the new location to include indoor play time, cameras, and a website where you can watch your pets while they are there.

Waggin ‘Train is owned and operated by Jennifer Roberts. Jennifer has 17 years of veterinary and animal care experience. Starting with a local veterinary office, Jennifer was a kennel assistant. She obtained her veterinary assistant certification and began working as a veterinary assistant, later obtaining a diploma in veterinary technology. She started working as a veterinary technician in 2007 and throughout that time she started grooming dogs. Jennifer keeps her license up to date and participates in continuing education so that she can volunteer at spaying clinics and be a better sitter for your pet.

Waggin ‘Train is a family business with a heart for caring for animals in the community. Waggin ‘Train is committed to helping pet owners and charities that will support responsible pet ownership and spay / neuter clinics. The Blessing Box, located at Waggin ‘Train, is stocked with items needed to care for your pet, such as dog and cat food, cat litter, treats, collars, leashes, grooming needs, potty pads, and more.

“The items are free for whoever needs them. Other donated items, such as toys, crates, houses and beds, are sanitized and placed in the waiting area to be sold by donation. The money raised from their purchases helps us purchase items for the Blessing Box and fund our community outreach projects, ”said Jennifer Roberts.

A long-time advocate for spaying your pets, The Waggin ‘Train helps coordinate cat spaying clinics. The clinic provides free sterilization / sterilization, a rabies vaccine and an ear cut. Events are scheduled in advance and open to all members of the community at no cost.

“This project has been close to my heart and has been for many years,” said Roberts. “I’ve always tried to fundraise to help make a little difference in the number of unwanted cats born in our area.”

Waggin ‘Train’s most recent project is to help place unwanted / unplanned litters of puppies into a rescue. As part of the deal, these rescues will sterilize the mom, where it is safe to do so, at a local veterinary clinic at no cost to the owner. Puppies will be screened according to specific rescue requirements and placed for adoption. The program will help eliminate future unwanted litters.
