KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) – Krystoff Leanthony Joseph Irving, 23, faces a slew of charges, including terrorism threats against a family member, unlawful possession of a weapon and two counts of cruelty and animal abuse not -livestock, after he allegedly shot two dogs during an argument with his wife.
On June 2, 2022, officers were sent to the 3500 block of Christie Drive to investigate after shots were allegedly fired.
Officers soon learned that the victim and her spouse, later identified by Killeen police as Irving, were involved in a phone argument over the separation and Irving allegedly threatened to harm the woman.
The woman immediately called 911 to report the threat made by the suspect.
Irving was reportedly at the woman’s residence after the phone argument, according to police. He allegedly retrieved a handgun and fired it at two dogs inside the residence.
One of the injured dogs belonged to the woman. The other dog was inside the house because the victim was herding animals for a friend.
Irving reportedly fled the residence on a blue expedition before police arrived.
Police found one dog had died of a gunshot wound and the other suffered a gunshot wound.
An animal services unit transported the injured dog to an emergency animal care clinic, but due to the severity of the injuries, the dog was humanely euthanized, police said.
Area officers located Irving in the Blue Expedition at the intersection of WS Young Drive and Elms Road.
After arresting him, officers noticed “a handgun in plain view inside the vehicle,” police said.
Irving was arrested and transported to Killeen City Jail.
