John Travolta didn’t leave the Oscars on Sunday night with a golden statuette, but he did bring home a brand new pet.
During a tribute to the late comedienne Betty White during the In Memoriam portion of the ceremony, Jamie Lee Curtis released a little dog named Mac N Cheese, reminding audiences of White’s dedication to saving animals and encouraging viewers to adopt rather than shop. The message clearly touched Travolta and his family because after the awards show, his 11-year-old son Well adopted Mac N Cheese.
On Monday, Curtis shared a cute photo of the actor, his son and their new dog all smiles for the camera on his Instagram account. She wrote alongside the photo, “A MAGICAL ending to last night’s story. At the Oscars I reconnected with my friend, John Travolta. @johntravolta We starred together in the movie PERFECT in 1984. J had already left the Dolby Theater last night after honoring Betty White and was on my way home when someone sent me a photo of John holding a small mac and cheese in the green room before his presentation of the Oscar for best actor.
She continued: ‘I thought it was so beautiful to see him with her and then today I found out that he and his son, Ben adopted a beautiful little mac and cheese and brought her home today. today. It’s a moving ending and a perfect tribute to Betty White and it illuminates and AMPLIFIES the message that the heroes who, like Betty and Chad from @pawworks and Nancy from @perfect_pet_rescue and the team at @maedayrescue and the hundreds of thousands of other rescuers, who love and support ANIMALS, that saving animals and providing them with shelter from the storms of life and a warm, loving home is one of the most important things in life that we humans , can undertake!” She concluded the message with the hashtag “#adoptdontshop”.
During his Oscar tribute to White, who died in December 2021 at 99, Curtis said, “She wasn’t just a Golden Girl, she was a legend. She lit up every room she walked into and brought smiles to everyone who watched her on screen day in and day out, for nearly a century. The actress went on to explain why she was cradling a dog in her arms, explaining, “She was a woman who cared so much about not only her two-legged friends, but also animals like this. So the most beautiful gift you can give Betty White is to open your heart and your home and adopt a rescue dog like Mac N Cheese from Paw Works Thank you, Betty, thank you for being a friend to all of us.
