Inside the double-decker bus transformed into a dog grooming salon

A woman transformed a double-decker bus into a double-decker dog grooming service.

Based at Waterworld on Chester High Road in Neston, The Dogshack claims to be the world’s only two-story dog grooming salon.

The bus took eight weeks to convert from start to finish.

The unique layout allows people to watch their dogs being groomed, which is great for anxious dogs or owners.

Owner Nicola Forster revealed that she was fed up with her old job and still wanted to have her own business, so she decided to set up the service.

She said: “I was fed up with my sales job and loved dogs. I’ve always wanted my own business so it made sense to me.

“We started in a converted horse trailer. I didn’t want to be tied to a mailing address in case it was overloaded with groomers or not busy. It seemed like a natural progression.

“I love how original it is, people stop and take pictures when their dogs are being looked after.

“People can literally watch their dogs being groomed, so it’s a peace of mind that dogs are handled properly.

“Nervous dogs especially like the bus because it doesn’t look typical of a living room.

Nicola said the low running costs compared to a normal living room helped her get through the pandemic.

She said: “It was a godsend during the pandemic, because of the way we designed the bus.

“The operation and maintenance costs are minimal compared to a normal living room, so that’s great.

“Business has been tough, but we are certainly seeing a huge increase since the restrictions were relaxed slightly. I look forward to the future! “
