Press Release: Scenthound
Scenthound, on a mission to keep dogs healthy and clean, recently announced the opening of Gainesville’s first and only dog grooming and wellness service. The new location, at 2835 SW 91st on the Haile Market Square Publix opens at the end of May. This is the first of four locations Joseph and Kathryn Pizzurro plan to open in North Central Florida. Scenthound takes a wellness-based approach that is dedicated to improving the quality of life for dogs. Embedded in the name, Scenthound focuses on the five main maintenance areas: skin, coat, ears, nails and teeth.
The company’s Scent Techs are fully trained to give every dog the care they need, regardless of breed, and the membership program gives dog parents peace of mind that their dog is treated regularly. Pet parents can select the most appropriate subscription for their dog and add additional grooming services as needed..
“For years we searched for a community business and once we heard about Scenthound, we were immediately hooked on their concept,” said Joseph Pizzurro. “Gainesville is an amazing community filled with individuals and families who clearly appreciate what a dog can bring to their lives.”
Prior to joining the Scenthound pack, Joseph Pizzurro earned an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and worked in the medical device market for over 30 years. Kathryn Pizzurro has over 15 years of experience in the orthopedic trauma market and is currently an editor and freelance writer. The couple are parents to high school students Caroline and Mary, as well as their 8-year-old rescue pup, Pi. The Pizzurro family is eager to provide their pet-loving community of Gainesville with an easy, economical way and health oriented to take care of his dogs.
“Dogs play a crucial role in the health and well-being of the whole family,” says Kathryn Pizzurro. “Scenthound offers a convenient and affordable way to incorporate your dog’s care into your monthly routine. Scenthound Gainesville SW is located in the Haile Publix Marketplace for pet owners to drop off their dogs, do various races, then to take a clean and fresh puppy.
Scenthound was founded in 2015 after CEO Tim Vogel spent more than 10 years running both a mobile grooming business and local grooming Scenters, and saw firsthand the shortcomings of a pet industry from booming company and the lack of education surrounding dog care. Vogel began a mission to give dogs and their owners a quick, easy and affordable solution that not only keeps them clean and beautiful, but maintains their overall health and well-being.
“With their strong passion for dogs and pet ownership, Joseph and Kathryn will have a big impact in the Gainesville community,” Vogel said. “We are thrilled to welcome Joseph and Kathryn to Scenthound, who are driven to carry out our mission to provide every dog with essential wellness care.”
